Whom we work with

CDART works well with local authorities including municipalities and regional districts. CDART volunteers will deploy to specific areas of disaster/emergency once requested and will report to ESS teams in local communities or to the Ministry of Agriculture as required.

CDART works with Emergency Social Services at Reception Centres registering animals that need sheltering or evacuation during an emergency/disaster. CDART also can determine if an Animal Intake Facility needs to be established in order to manage sheltering of evacuated animals.

Mission Statement

To provide emergency services for domestic animals in the event of a disaster

To train volunteers in order that they can provide emergency shelter and rescue for domestic animals when responding during a disaster.

To raise funds for supplies, medical treatment for animals, training costs and expenses incurred by volunteers during a disaster.

CDART consists entirely of volunteers.

There are many volunteer opportunities with CDART, Click here. However, persons who wish to respond during a disaster are required to have some cross-training with their provincial Emergency Social Services (ESS) in addition to their CDART training.
